and cost by 20% as compared with the concrete dam under design, which has a downstream slope of 1 : 0.7,
and whose stability and strength were determined with consideration given to the spatial effect.
Speaking of the economic effectiveness of the type of dam that we are proposing, it should be stressed that
its design enables us to approximate the construction process of concrete dams as closely as possible to the construction process of dams formed from local materials. The reduction in the amount of concrete used in the dam is, however, extremely effective by itself. This is graphically illustrated by the data in Table 4, which indicate that material costs amount to approximately 60% of the cost of the concrete placement; in this case. the percentage is only slightly dependent on the type of dam, the location of the construction site, and the natural conditions.
