On the 28th of Jamuary, 2008, Hunan, LiuZhou had a heavy snowstorm. The snowstorm lasted for a day. The snowstorm not only brought great hardship to the people, it also paralysed the factories production,
On that morning, the snow was falling heavily and the wind was blowing very strong. The city water and electricity supplies were cut off. The provincial government activated the army and police to tackle the havoc caused by the snowstorm. The public was also encouraged to join in the snow removal job or in the rescue work. The aim was to ensure that the general public life was back to normal as soon as possible. Various schools were set up as temporary destinations for emergency shelters for those who were affected by the snowstorm.
My experience from the snowstorm prompt me to think that a country must always have emergency evacuation plans when disaster strikes. We must always be prepared in peace time.
