Direct applications
A direct application is when you apply directly to Swinburne,not through another organisation,such as the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).
Swinburne accepts direct applications for all Part-time TAFE courses year round,and at Mid-year intake for TAFE and university courses.There are also a number of TAFE courses which will take rolling,direct applications throughout the year.
A direct application is also required for Semester 1 of each year for courses where a VTAC application is not required.These courses are most commonly TAFE Certificates I,II and III.

Will I be informed when my application has been received?
Once we have received and processed your application,you will be notified as to whether we require any further information from you.Depending on the time you apply,it may take up to a couple of weeks for your application to be entered into our system.
As soon as your application has been assessed,you will be informed of the status of your application via email from our Admissions Department.
How long will it take to assess my application?
Once your application has been received,it is sent to the relevant Faculty or TAFE school for assessment.The time taken to assess your application can vary depending on what course you have applied for.
You will be notified of the outcome of your application as soon as it has been assessed.
What if I don't get my first preference out of the courses I applied for?
If you did not receive an offer for your first preference,then you may be successful for your alternate preferences.It is important to make sure that you meet all the entry requirements for the courses you are applying for.Alternatively,you could apply for a different course with lower requirements,and then look for a future pathway into your initial first preference.Visit our Pathways website for further information.
