美国《航天新闻周刊》2011年10月19日报道,美国战略司令部司令10月19日称,美国政府卫星和空中监视平台所收集的数据量已远远超出五角大楼的处理能力.空军上将罗伯特·科勒（Robert Kehler）说,数据量的强度是五年前的1500%,而处理、开发和分发数据的能力仅提高了约30%.

technologies,sources and patterns of intelligence messages become more diverse,
and a longer time for analyzing and processing intricate bulk information is
needed to guarantee the precise decision of a commander.With the prevalence of
information,a “quick-beat-slow” tactic will definitely replace the “big-beat-small”
one in the era of mechanized war.Quick response and speedy pace has become an
important indicator measuring information-based commanding performance.
However,when the efficiency of intelligence processing matches,the larger the
information,the longer the analysis and processing cycle,out of step with the rapid and precise decision-making.
According to a report of the Space News on Oct 19,2011,the Commander of the U.S.
Strategic Command announced the same day that the data collected by the U.S.
government satellites and aerial surveillance platforms are far beyond the
processing capacity of the Pentagon.Robert Kehler,an Air Force General,said the
data volume boosts as much as 1500% compared to five years ago,while the capacity
to process,develop and distribute data is only improved by about 30%.Although
the information volume held by a commander soars,the battlefield uncertainty facing
the commander is far from being resolved due to the limited capacity of
intelligence processing.Even though the intelligence used by a commander to
make decisions increases,the qualification required for the commander cannot
be lowered thereby.Instead,considering limitations of the computerized
information processing,a commander must have a sharper and more reasonable
judgment to extract valuable intelligence from the bulk mixture of real and false
information in a short time and thereby make quick and precise decisions.
