阿甘正传影评 A Summary of “Forrest Gump” Forrest Gump is a man with a low IQ score of 75, but he accomplishes great things in his life and is present during a series of significant historic events. “Forrest Gump” is the story of a man who rises above his challenges, and who proves that determinations, encourages, and love are more important than ability. Forrest is the title character, a shy Southern boy in love with his childhood best friend who finds that his ability to run fast takes him places. As an All-Star football player he meets John F. Kennedy; as a soldier in Vietnam he's a war hero; and as a world champion Ping-Pong player he's hailed by Richard Nixon. Becoming a successful shrimp-boat captain, he still yearns for the love of his life, who takes a quite different and much sadder path in life. The film concerns 30 years of American life from the idealistic 50s to the me-first 80s. which refers to Desegregation, the Vietnam War, Watergate Scadal, the Ping Pong Diplomacy, AIDs, Women’s problem, Environmental problem, and so on. The two women who influence Forrest’s life deeply are his mother and Jenny, he is a sharp contrast to Jenny and Dan. His mother tells him “Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”, and he always listens to Jenny’s word, Jenny is the first person who tells him to “run”, and later he wins congressional medal of honor for playing soccer, just because of his fast running. Dan ,as Forrest’s friend, gets a positive impact from Forrest. At last, he has a wife and owns a happy life. “Miracles happen every day”. “I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental—like on a breeze”. “If you are ever in trouble, don’t try to be brave, just run, just run away”. “Death is just a part of life, something we’re all destined to do”. Those are the scripts in the “Forrest Gump”, while they are also the real meanings of life, life is how you look about it.
