It was built in 1885,句中it是主语指代车,was buil 是被动语态,说明车是于1885年被生产出来的,如果用built,就无法体现车是被制造的了,以物品作主语的句子通常用被动语态.
再问：那为什么第一句话的开头是用built呢?
再答：开头只用Built in 1885，是省略了主语和谓语It was，而且还避免了重复，因为下文紧跟着就是it was the oldest。。。如果总是It was。。。，it was。。。就太没意思了，新概念的作者L.G.Alexander编写的课文的每一句话都是安排好的，一点废话都没有！！！
