The Book That Has Affected Me Most
Today, I will tell you the story of a legendary person. When she was just one year old , she became blind , deaf and dumb after a terrible disease. The god seemed to be unfair to her. However, with the help of her teacher, she learned to feel the world by touching. Finally, she became a writer and educationalist who had a good command of five languages. It is unbelievable , isn’t it? This person is Helen keller. Helen set down her life before 21 years old in the book ----The Story of My Life.
The Story of My Life is the book which has affected me most. The book is in three parts. The first two, Helen’s story and extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. The Story of My Life has become an enduring classic of American literature. It was always to be the most popular of Helen Keller's works, with numerous editions published throughout the years.
When I read this book, I was just a 14-year-old girl. I lived a very peaceful and happy life. Of course, I had never suffered a huge setback. After I read it, I was shocked by Helen’s experiences. It was she who was dead, blind and dumb but improved the lives of the other deaf and blind around the world. I had tried to close my eyes to have a taste of blindness. At that time, l felt helpless and terrified. But , you know, Helen lived in the dark the whole life. What a strong person she is! So Helen became my idol soon. I have learned many things from Helen. Her example showed me that nothing is impossible in the life. Every time when I face a difficulty, I thought of Helen and then try my best to overcome it. I believe that whatever the end is ,I can be stronger and stronger in the process.
The Story of My Life is the wonder of one person. It has also encouraged many people around the world to be optimistic and firm . Of course, it has affected me a lot. If you haven’t read it , why don’t have a try.
