Success is something that many people strive for, but that not everyone among us attains.
When we consider the various factors that play a role in determining whether a person is successful in life, ambition and action are two of the first to come to mind.
Many people have dreams or aspirations, but not all of us are willing to commit the time and energy required to see our goals through to the finish line. People may fail to act on their ambitions for a variety of reasons, such as laziness, risk aversion or a lack of confidence. However, those who truly wish to succeed must overcome these barriers and learn to take action. While action does not guarantee instantaneous success, nor does it preclude the possibility of making the occasional misstep, it will help to move us forward so that our lofty ambitions may one day be fulfilled.
Ambition and action are both essential in determining whether we flourish or fall behind. The former gives us the drive and direction to move forward, while the latter enables us to implement our vision and “make things happen”. A lack of either ambition or action will inevitably lead us to a life of mediocrity. In combination, however, they represent the winning formula that will put us firmly on the road to success.
